The Pros: As an LED-based LCD TV, the Sony KDL-EX523 series is more affordable. It is also capable of handling sources such as 1080p/2, thus, making it great in video processing. One great feature of Sony is its automatic turn-off option. This is an amazing feature because it helps save power. Additionally, when Sony KDL-EX523 is positioned in a brighter room, the glare is reduced by its matte screen. This model also includes features such as built-in Wi-Fi, exclusive Gracenote and Qriocity, and also a number of niche videos.

If you’ve been trying to decide on whether to buy a Samsung TV or a Sony LED TV, then you’ve come to the right place. This review will tell you why buying a Sony Bravia kdl 46ex500 is a wiser decision than getting a 3D TV from Samsung.  Talking about taking home entertainment to the next level, the 3D Samsung is definitely not yet ready for home use. Aside from the fact that plenty of people get headaches from watching in 3D, the 3D effect noticeably diminishes when you’re just 4 feet away from the screen, which is the average couch potato’s distance from the TV at home. Talking about Samsung vs Sony LED TVs, they both have their fair share of issues, with Samsung usually falling short on the hardware reliability side and Sony on the software. Software bugs are easier and less expensive to fix, so Sony wins on that end.

The Sony Bravia kdl 46ex500 has very good contrast, one of the best in available LCD screens today. Pictures are really satisfactory, with deep blacks and superb whites. The sharpness is perfect. As for brightness, LCDs usually have more than enough of that, and it was a nice touch for Sony to add an automatic brightness feature, which alters the brightness depending on the ambient light in the room. End result: a much more natural-looking picture whether you’re sitting in the dark with the lights off or with the sun glaring behind you from the window. The Sony Bravia kdl 46ex500 also comes with a diverse set of features and options, which include slide shows and the ever-useful USB port for watching videos from your laptop or PC.

Some cons: Watch out when setting sharpness in video mode – the TV can go into over scan if HTPC is connected over HDMI. It’s easy enough to fix it by changing the setting to pixel mapping for the HDMI port. The USB port only accepts USB sticks with the FAT32 format, and registration is required to unlock particular DivX functionality. You might want to calibrate the colors a bit as soon as you finish assembling this Sony LCD TV, but if you’re too lazy to do that then the default manufacture settings will do. It also has some shortcomings in the sound department, because other TVs take less volume units out of 100 to achieve louder and clearer sounds than this one.

Overall the Sony Bravia kdl 46ex500 is an excellent choice for an LCD TV, and is one of the best out there today. It may be lacking a little in certain areas, but that’s nothing that a firmware update or a decent sound system can’t fix. If its picture and video quality is your top priority, then Sony is the way to go.

Comparing the Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX320 with a 2008 model Samsung 40” LCD and a 2011 Panasonic VIERA 32” LCD is easy. The Sony TV blows both models away, especially the price Amazon is offering for this Sony 32 LCD TV is cheaper than the others.
Setting up is quick and easy and takes less than 5 minutes to assemble.

This Sony TV is very stable, even if you place it on top of a small, sturdy stand for more height and better viewing. Setting the HDMI interfaces with your laptop and DVD player/recorder is a minor snag however. Picture quality at first is marginal since the HDMI settings take some time to sort out. This LCD TV seems smart enough to set everything right. When the external viewer settings of the laptop identify the Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX320, you can make changes to the view settings to get what you want. You need a little patience, but this TV can handle any preference you set.

Maybe the Panasonic may have less darkening effects on some movies, making the picture a little “crisper.” But turning up the backlight on the Sony TV will take care of that worry. The sound is superior to competing TV models, IMO.

Pros:

The Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX320 remote control has excellent logical labels. Every button serves a useful purpose and these can be mastered quickly and intuitively just by using them.

It’s easy to change viewing width/ angles to adjust the quality of the source signal – that’s on the rare occasion the TV doesn’t get it right first.

Great audio quality and functions – just remember the RCA out jacks are crucial!

Very smooth video motion.

The price at Amazon at present is $365!

Cons:

Night or dark movie scenes may come across as a little too dark unless you increase the backlight. It may shorten the Sony TV’s life span, though you don’t need to do this except for specific programming.

The internal speakers are minimal with most LCD TVs at this price range. This can be cheaply remedied if you connect some high end, self-powered computer speakers to the RCA out jacks. 

To sum up the Sony BRAVIA KDL32BX320 is a safe, solid investment in a quality Sony TV. “Cheaper” LCD models than this does not warrant the risk in quality. For a small living room or bedroom, this LCD TV is unbeatable at this price!

It’s better if you have a new lamp in your old HD TV just to be fair. When you turn both on to TV mode using an HDTV UVerse 1080i cable you’ll find some interesting details.

The Sony LED TV definitely has the brighter and sharper image. You might find some channels where there won’t seem to be a difference, but the 1080i cable would most likely be the culprit. Try playing the same DVD on each TV and you will immediately notice that the more vivid, sharper pictures are shown on the Sony Bravia KDL-52EX700.  But if you really want to see the difference stand out, watch a Blue Ray movie. That’s the time when your Sony 52 LED TV will blow away your old LCD model. “Wow” is certainly a good first word to say after that.

Connecting to the internet and streaming a movie from your computer is a seamless operation. The screen is cased in an elegant high gloss black cabinet, with a great design. This Sony LED TV is also for the environmentalist in you, since all LED TVs consume very little energy.

The only negative thing you can say about it is the base. Well, it’s a bit slow if you’re changing to channels with a different resolution. But that can be easily fixed by just using only a 1080i output setting for your cable box. That way the channel delay will take just a fraction of a second, instead of the two to three seconds you have to wait when you change from a 1080i channel to a 720p channel. 

The Sony Bravia KDL-52EX700 is really a Sony LED TV that you can highly recommend to someone who enjoys high quality HD viewing.

This Sony BRAVIA KDL55EX720 TV has been with me for than more a month now, so I just want to provide an update. First off, the picture’s very good. I’ve watched Avatar HD on HBO, ESPN HD, and a few others, and there’s no noticeable clouding at all. It’s a nice surprise that the movies I watched didn’t have a soap opera effect at all.

The Sony KDL55EX720 is marketed as a TV with MotionFlow 240hz, which really means it’s 120hz but Sony jazzed up the technology to “bring the frame rate to 240hz.” Anyway, you won’t notice the difference. What I like about this model is it’s so easy to adjust the picture settings the way you like, though the black levels are not as black as I’d want them to be.

Sound’s great! You’ve probably experienced sometimes when you’re watching a musical and hear super load background noises? Or when watching a movie on DVD and the voices and dialogue are so soft then you turn the volume up, but quickly had to turn it back down because suddenly some booming music took your ear off? Well, that doesn’t happen with this Sony Bravia TV. It’s got technology that automatically detects dialog and amplifies the voices, and softens the background. When you listen carefully, you’ll notice a real difference in sound quality when you change the setting to “S-Force Front Surround.”

Okay, the 3D’s sweet! But there are cross-talk issues. At certain points you’ll see double images, then again this is still new technology and every HD TV review I’ve read on any TV model has them. I’ve watched four hours on one nature show channel that featured ocean life, dinosaurs, and stuff in space, and I almost managed to pet a freaking brontosaurus that peered in my living room. Amazing depth perception this Sony KDL55EX720 has… even on large landscape pans.

The interface is awesome and navigating the settings is simple and intuitive, like a PS3 interface. Everything’s laid out and spelled so clearly even a non-techie won’t have any problems using it. It even lets you add icons to different display settings! Woot! Changing the setting’s a piece of cake. You can go direct to many of the main settings like sound and display, directly from show you’re viewing instead of going to the menu.

The Sony BRAVIA KDL55EX720 TV doesn’t come with a built-in WiFi, but you can plug it directly into your router using a network cable. I got good connection speeds with Hulu, Qriocity, and YouTube. It takes a little while to spell anything out because it feels like spelling something from a numeric keypad on your cell phone, that’s my only complaint. Then again, I got over that hump really quickly.

• PIP is barely useful.
• Inputs not well thought out.

It was simple and easy to add my Sony TV to my wireless network, because the Sony KDL32EX523 TV has built-in wireless, so I simply entered my network password in the TV, just like how you type it in a computer, and boom – I’m connected. No need for an external USB device. Getting the Sony Bravia TV to work with my Netflix account was just as easy to initialize. I simply used my laptop to log on to my Netflix account, typed in the code from the Sony TV, the TV blinked once and now it’s added to Netflix.

This Sony Internet TV streams my Netflix content better than the TIVO DVR in my other room, right next to the wireless hub. There’s a handy red Netflix button on the Sony KDL32EX523TV remote that takes me there in a single step. On the screen, the Netflix search function isn’t as easy to manoeuvre through the different categories though. So I just keep it simple by relying on the “instant queue” for something to watch. The quality of the picture is great, no high pitched sounds from the power supply, and there are no issues with the viewing angle. The picture is sharp, large, and easy to view whether ambient light conditions are totally dark or bright sunlight. This Sony LED TV is great.
